Temple Sinai Anti-Injustice Statement

From June 2020 through summer 2021 the following statement was on our home page, in large font. Our Social Action committee wrote the statement in response to the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020.

There May Be Times when we are powerless to prevent injustice.

BUT THERE MUST NEVER be a time when we FAIL TO PROTEST.

— Elie Wiesel

We, at Temple Sinai, will NOT fail to protest.

We protest against racism and racial injustice.

We protest against those who refuse to see and hear the racial injustice around us.

We stand with those who protest peacefully.

We stand with those who “yearn to breathe free” in this country that we love.

Together, in peaceful protest, we at Temple Sinai seek to Repair the World.

If I am not for myself, then who will be for me?

And if I am only for myself, then what am I?

And if not now, when?

— Rabbi Hillel
