Channukah Festivities!

What a festive time of year when we can come together and celebrate together as a community starting with the community holiday lighting at the beginning of the month, Rabbi Reaboi scatted his way through with the live band at Wood Park and led the community in Channukah (חנוכה) songs.

The religious school held the annual “Channukah Talent Show” with ten kids showing off their skills — jugglers, balance artists, florists, piano playing, songs, guitar, and comedians took the stage to a crowded audience of friends, family, and congregants. There wasn’t a dry eye or a face without a smile. Those kids are something special!

Not only did different families lead the Wood Park Channukiah (חנוכיה) lighting each night of the holiday of lights, but each family brought something fun and special — songs, Suffganiot (סופגניות), and games.

The choir graced us with their festive Channukah Shabbat (שַׁבָּת) service featuring the Ladino “Ocho Candellicas” and ten of the holiday standards. Families brought their Channukiot and we lit the Channukah lights together, filling the Chapel with warmth. It was a great reminder to be the light even when it looks like there is no hope in bleak darkness. It is our social responsibility to be like the Maccabis and stand up against the desecrators.

The Channukah (חנוכה) celebration ended with a Fineblum family-hosted “holiday light scavenger hunt” with 10 teams searching the Cinnaminson area for 30 holiday light items! Blow up diaspora with a dreidel?! Yup! We found that! The Roses were the victors and brought home a plate of Channukah-themed cookies made by Barbara Fineblum for their efforts.

Thank you all who participated in all of the fun to end 2024! Chag Samayach (חג שמח)! L’chaim (לחיים) and cheers to more great TSC events in 2025!
